Obama in the Neighborhood?

Yes. He. Was. Henry and I noticed at least 30+ cops surrounding the community center right across the street from our apartment. Daddy did a little research for us and we found out that President Obama, THE president of the United States of America, was across the street at the community center that I go running at. He was presenting a housing plan of some sort. We decided to get our cameras, and walk over to see if He was still there or if anything was still going on. Well, about 90 seconds after arriving President Obama drove by. His windows weren't as dark as I thought they would be so some people got a good look at him. However, I was looking at my camera trying to snap a shot of the event. Henry did wave right to Obama though. It was a really sweet, and very cool moment. Although the pictures aren't great we did get a few. Enjoy!

Today Jakey and Kaley were out of school for MLK day. Kaley spent the day with a friend and Jakey, Henry, and I went to Gravelly Park to watch the airplanes. We have been before but I am never less amused with each visit. It is so much fun to watch the airplanes come in. Next we'll take a picnic, and go on a slightly warmer day. Although Henry has been before and really enjoyed it, He was very frightened today. He finally warmed up to the airplanes when we got back in the car to watch for a few more minutes. It was just too cold to stay outside too long. ENJOY

Henry and Daddy worked on tightening the kitchen faucet together. It was rather sweet. Can you see both sets of tools? Thank you Heidi, and Paige for the tools! Henry LOVES them!

Why, might I put just a plain ol' picture of Henry's bed on his blog, you might ask. Well, because each night as we all gather in Henry's bedroom for a prayer goodnight we go through a rather long process. Each and every one of his cars must be put upside down as they are praying with us, and then Henry gives us all....yes, ALL, each car, a hug and kiss before bed. Then they go under his pillow where he sleeps on them all night long. It is quite the goodnight process.

So, today Daddy got dressed and ready for church while mommy was dressing Henry. When both of them walked out of their separate rooms, all dressed daddy quickly realized that the two boys were wearing nearly the identical outfit. So, to settle the debate once and for all, daddy snapped a couple of quick pictures to determine if Henry really does look like daddy. All other things being equal, i.e. the shirt and tie, do they look alike?

Stuff Henry Looks at when he is Supposed to be Asleep

So, as you may have seen, Henry got a fun camera for Christmas that allows him to take real pictures. Although most of his pictures are fuzzy blurs, as he is still trying to figure out how to hold still while taking a picture, every so often he is able to hold still just long enough for his pictures to be recognizable. I thought I would post a few of his pictures from one of his most recent photo shoots. I believe he titled this series, "Stuff I look at when I am Supposed to be Asleep." Based upon the subjects in the photos and the angles, we believe he took all of these pictures while laying down in his bed, when we thought he was supposed to be asleep, although the true genius of his photographic techniques may never be understood as he may have taken them in some other, more interesting way. For those interested, prints are available at a discounted price. Act now, when Henry becomes the next Ansel Adams these photos may be worth thousands! Just kidding. Enjoy.

Thanks to some of his generous benefactors Daddy was able to purchase a new lens for his camera. Which means, Henry had to pose for some pictures. Today was a rather low key shoot, though, as Henry would only pose for shots in between eating a peanut butter sandwich. It's still fun to see how fast he is growing and to watch his big personality coming out of his little body!

Washington DC Temple Light 2011

We were lucky enough to visit the Temple this year to see the Christmas Lights. They were STUNNING, and, as always, the Temple was MAGNIFICENT! It was so cold, but that's half the fun right? It was somewhat of a madhouse, and we didn't stay long, but I'm grateful we made the small trek out that way. ENJOY

PS - On a Funny 'Henry side note' He has been putting Boots to sleep lately. He covers him up, makes sure he has a book or two, and a binkie.... Then he completes his goodnight routine with boots with a hug and a kiss and sneaks out. SO CUTE!

PPS - Henry woke up the other night at 330am and came into my room upset saying over and over "my pee pee, my pee pee..." I told him it was okay, and led him to his room to change his clothes, however he went straight to the bathroom! He was totally dry!! I am still amazed he didn't have an accident! If he needs to go bad enough in the night it doesnt usually register in time to make it to the potty! GO HENRY!

Mommy needs a story?

Well... as anyone that has had a toddler knows that showering uninterrupted is an event that is far and few between. As I was in the shower the other day, with the door slightly ajar so that I might hear any booms that might occur, my handsome little boy walked in, poked his head in the shower and asked "Mommy, do you want a story?" Something I do for him while he's in the tub. Of course I couldnt resist seeing what would happen if I took him up on his offer and I told him I would love that. He left, and a minute later returned with two books from his collection in his room. Sat down on the floor and proceeded to read to me in his 2 year old language...He read to me until I was all done in the shower, and I thanked him for his sweet offer to read to me while I was in the shower.
Of course I laugh now when I think of this experience, but I am so grateful my little man is so sweet.

Sidenote: If I am ever getting ready to get in the shower or am already in the shower and have my glasses still on, Henry gently reminds me that I cant get my glasses wet. He proceeds to tell me over and over...and over again until I take them off. Silly boy....

I was skimming through Henry's much much earlier posts. Posts about about the nights he would sleep for 6 or 8 hours straight. Or watching the video of him roll, or eat, or pictures of his in the tub when he was still using his tub ..mat? Anyway, I noticed that I wrote more. Much more, about the way I felt about the new things he was doing, or Id go into detail about his progress. I have simply shown you all the pictures lately as that is usually what we'd rather see anyway, but I felt the need to share more about my little man. Is just a couple months over two, and an incredible little toddler. I'd just like to share a little bit about what my day is like with him and all the silly things he says and does.
Henry usually wakes by about 6 or 630am. For most mommys that stay home in the morning this is, Im sure, TOO early! However, Henry and I are lucky enough to be hanging out with Jake and Kaley. So, we leave home about 715am to drop Daddy off at the train and Head to Jake and Kaley's to get them up and ready for school. He walks into each of their rooms and says "Good morning Sunshine." He loves seeing them each day and is usually disappointed to leave. Henry's favorite foods and snacks make up a rather small list including: Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (which he usually wants for breakfast AND lunch)
Yogurt - or if he's lucky enough, gogurt...
Applesauce (with a veggie puree mixed in) however he wont eat a raw apple. Or anything raw for that matter. Smoothies (with some fresh spinach if we have some)
Mac N'Cheese of course
Cheese tortilla with a little turkey on it
Cottage Cheese
Cheese sticks
Tacos
Ramen
MILK
You know...the very toddler basics. For the most part, he's a very healthy boy. He does take after his mommy and has a terrible sweet tooth. So we try to keep each other on track.
One of Henry's newest (and one of my favorite) habits is that he comes inside after being out and goes straight to his room to put his shoes away, and put his coat on his bed. Then he's ready to play. It's sweet that he's learning (finally) to just do things without being asked. However, today was funny because we came in from church and as we went to change we came out and Henry had indeed taken his shoes off but sooo sneakily he shoved them under the couch. Guess he didnt want to put them away today huh?
One of Henry's funny phrases is "Oh, Of COUrse" He has this funny intonation as the COUR part of course is much more high pitched. I've heard I say it like that....
"Henry, will you go put your plate in the sink?"
"oh OF COURse mommy"
It puts a smile on my face EVERY time.
Henry talks a lot these days! All about preschool, and nursery, and his toys and movies and family! I cant get enough of a serious conversation with him. It's so sweet!
He is definitely growing! Thank goodness too because I cant stop shopping for him!
Henry's hair is getting long, but we have decided not to cut it yet as we are curious to see what his long hair will do and be like. Dont worry, Im sure we'll cut it soon.
Henry's favorite playmates are probably his preschool group - Gabbi, Alex, Abby, and Paige
Favorite toys: Cars, anything Cars. He wishes he had a camera and a bike. He asks for those often.
Henry is GREAT sleeper. I hope Im as lucky with the next! (no announcement - I promise :)) He simply lays down when its nap time and if he isnt quite tired he reads a book or plays with a car in bed until he falls asleep. He does the same at bed time and will sometimes make Josh and I laugh when he says "Get out of my room" "Shut the door" or simply when he wont let us tuck him it at all. He walks in, shuts his door and goes to bed.

We are SO blessed to have Henry. He is happy, and Healthy and so sweet. He is full of hugs and kisses. You never get one without the other. I am so grateful I get to be his mommy.

Henry has really enjoyed the Halloween festivities this year! He will probably be ready to take for trick or treating next year! Henry: "Im done sleeping! I'm done sleeping!"

Just a couple of nights ago about 12am Henry burst into tears. I went in to make sure everything was okay, but he was completely asleep, and crying. I rubbed his back until he was calm. About 90 minutes later we hear: "Shoes!..... Shoes!" I wait it out because I know he is asleep and what am I going to do...go put shoes on him at 130 in the morning?? Nah, we wait and he calls out for his shoes a couple more times and sleeps till 6. This isnt the first time he has called out in his sleep. A while ago I would put Henry to sleep in his diaper as it was SO hot. He would often call out for a shirt or pajamas. Silly boy.

Henry is finally putting his own thoughts together out loud and as a result he is saying some adorable and funny things. Here are a few:

We walked inside and I watched as he ran to his room looking for a camera. He was pretty disappointed. A moment later he asked for his baseball hat (he is that specific..'baseball') and came out to daddy working on the computer, tugged on his sleeve and said "should we go?" just like that... "should we go??" Daddy responded.."where? on a walk?" Henry: "yes" So Henry is out walking daddy right now...

The other night as we were coming down the stairs from our apartment to pick up daddy at the metro, I had asked Henry if I could hold him as he LOVES to walk down the stairs taking much much longer. He let me hold him and said about halfway down "I'm So Happy!" I asked again - "Youre so happy?" and he continued to tell me 3 or 4 more times that he was so happy! It was really sweet.

This morning and Henry and I ate cereal together he slurped up his milk, asked for a wiper to clean up his mess, jumped down and said to me "Kiss!" Okay I thought, and smiled as he planted a big juicy one on me with a big "MMMUAH"!!

I dont think I realize very often how much this sweet little guy makes me smile every day! I love you Henry!

Henry has started Preschool!! I cant believe my sweet 2 year old attempts to sit long enough twice a week to learn about colors and shapes and numbers and his abc's. I am very proud to be his mommy. Hi! this post is a collection of some really fun things we have been doing lately. Its a little scattered due to our transition from SLC to Falls Church, VA - Enjoy the pictures!

At the last Home game of the summer for the BEES! Henry LOVED Bumble, and for the parts of the game that Henry was just a little too wiggly to sit in our sweets, we followed Bumble around. I love the picture of Henry with his hand on his heart. His eyes are so big and round and beautiful!

Last picnic with Aunt Jessica, and Uncle Cory. Grandma and Grandpa Snow were there too.

We took a break from our 4 day cross country drive to watch the Royals VS Yankees game. Henry LOVED it! He danced and cheered the night away! We saw Jeter play!

We stopped to see the St. Louis Arch. It was amazing! We didnt take the opportunity to go up...mostly because I didnt dare!

Henry asleep in a car FULL of stuff! The poor boy was surrounded! But he has become VERY attached to both his binky, and his sunglasses. Gotta love my sweet boy.

Well, we made it to lagoon. With a little tugging from my family we bought Henry and I a pass (Daddy had to work) and spent the day with Grandma Julie, Aunt Jenny, Aunt Jamee, Aunt Carly, Aunt Livi (who just got home from Hawaii - Just in time!), Uncle Christian, and all the kids! Mountain Fun and Visiting Draper

We spent an afternoon in the mountain picnic-ing with Grandma and Grandpa Snow. It was so peaceful up there. I wish we had more time to spend in the mountains this summer. Of COURSE Daddy took some really cool pictures of Henry.

This week we also went with Grandpa Snow to visit Draper and see some of the first homes in the area as well as where the original ward house used to be, which is now the Dome Gazebo, and a park with some memorials. It was very pretty and very peaceful.

We spent an afternoon with Aunt Jessica and Henry's cousin Kaitlyn in Park City shopping at the outlets, and painting at Color Me Mine. We had a lot of fun! Aunt Jessica painted an amazing vase, Kaitlyn did a really fun cupcake shaped jewelry holder, I painted salt and peppa shakers and Henry painted his little tile. We brought them all home and Daddy made Henry the blue frame that his tile is matted onto. It was so much fun!

My sweet baby boy turned 2 today. 2! I am happy to say we had a very memorable day, and I just want to throw in here quickly how incredibly blessed I feel. He is an amazing, spirited little boy, and I am grateful every day that I am his mommy.
Just some of his recents? He has become pretty set in his current diet, which usually consists of milk and a gogurt for breakfast, along with a vitamin. A kiddo turns 2 and they get vitamins and the big kid toothpaste! Holy moly, that's a lot for a mom! Im just teasing. He is just so big almost over night it seems. Anyway back to his stingy little diet? Lunch he prefers mac-n-cheese with a veggie puree of course for my own satisfaction that he's gettin a veggie, chicken nuggets, a peanut butter sandwich, a grilled cheese sandwich...the toddler basics, and not much more variety comes with dinner. He does love cheese sticks, and granola bars. He is a great milk and water drinker, but I'm always looking for great ideas if you mommies or daddies know any. He is Happy! He loves bugs, especially potato bugs! He loves ALL sports, and got an awesome mitt and baseball and a football for his birthday. He is a little finicky about wearing shoes these days, and loves to read. I love my little guy so much.

Thank you for 2 wonderful years sweet boy. I hope you know one day just how much your daddy and I love you.

There's a fuzzy spot on this picture because of a drop on water on the lens...just so ya know. Henry had SO MUCH FUN at this swimming pool. I thought it would take him a minute to get used to, or even our whole first visit but jumped right in! He loved the swimming pool. We even went down a rather large, twisty, water slide several times. I hope I get to take him again soon.

When we pulled up it was SUNNY and HOT! However, by the time we got out of the dressing room is was this! Our first 25 minutes were waiting out a small rain storm. Luckily, it did all clear up to sunny skies!

Oh Goodness, I'll keep this short, because most come to see your sweet pictures anyway. But I just have to tell you how much your have grown these last two months! It is an incredible to watch as you have begun to put words together in sentences and seeing you grow outta clothes, and learn EVERYONE's names. You are an amazing little boy. You have recently really taken interest in hitting your tennis ball with your little bat and tee, playing catch. You have come outta your shell a bit when it comes to playing with other people, and especially in the water. You LOVE to play in the water and we have had a lot of fun this summer finding places to play. You LOVE your grandmas and grandpas, and they love you so much too. You are a GREAT sleeper, and getting ready to get rid of your binkie, although you dont know it yet - Goodluck sweet boy. I love you so much.

We had SO much fun this weekend in St. Charles ID at Grandma and Grandpa's little house near Bear Lake. We spent all day on Saturday at the beach, Sunday at church and home, and Monday we went into Paris to enjoy the YUMMY chuck wagon breakfast and their little parade. It was a great holiday!

Hi sweet boy,
You recently turned 20 months! I just wanted to write and share a few new and funny habits you have recently learned.
-You walk around at home with your hands behind your back. We havent figured out why, but its awfully cute. Like you are walking around inspecting things.
-You have learned now to open doors and the refrigerator. YAY! Okay, not so much "YAY" as "aagghhh....Dont pull that shelf out of the fridge!" Silly boy.
-You climb from the living room after Turbo Dogs every night as a kitty or a doggie into bed to go to sleep, and usually insist that Daddy and Mommy follow you in the same manner.
-You have recently started flying like an airplane every time you see or hear one. It's amazing that you notice them so often. It is really adorable to watch you fly.
-This one is funny, and Daddy hates it but who knew you were SO observant. When mommy dances in the car to music, for some reason I always develop those funny duck lips. Well, now you do the same. You stick em way out there and dance away the song.
-You have to have YOUR keys before we can go anywhere!
-You are becoming very polite. Always saying 'Thank you' and 'Please'
-You are talking more and more and more every day. Its amazing to hear you put words together and think hard about how to communicate with us.
-You are finally really playing with your posse. You and Alex chase each other on the playground and at institute. You both just squeal with laughter the whole time! You love your friends.
Oh Henry, You are getting so big. I love you sweet boy. You are our favorite! Thank you for all the wonderful memories!

Henry and Daddy were working on his guard rail that had broken just a day or two before, and Henry decided after using his pretend drill that he would rather have the real thing. Like Daddy like Son....

This was kinda cute... Henry loves laundry baskets! He drug this basket around for an hour before he decided to put it right back where it goes to sit in it and play.

Well...similar to a laundry basket, Henry found this cooler, emptied it of its contents (we use it to store an excess of picture frames) and played in it during General Conference..... He and Daddy then used it to load all of his toys in it and put them away. Most of the time Henry loves to help put things away.

Its a bit fuzzy, but I had to share this hilarious goofy smile. He would do it over and over again.

Sweet Henry - 19 Months

I must say that I am really loving my sweet husband's new hobby. He was able to capture these sweet moments yesterday in Old Town Alexandria. It was a bit cold, but we had so much fun. We started with Henry sitting in front of doors of all colors, which turned into a rather fun game for him. He'd started pointing at one that he wanted to pose at if we walked by it and plunk right down until daddy took his picture. 19 Months...And several Days!

I wanted to write on Sunday about Henry turning 19 months, which is actually the day he turned 19 months, however I had a hard time getting to it. So here I am almost a week later and writing about my sweet Henry turning 19 months. He is such a big boy. I cant imagine him being any older but every day he is! Older, and taller, and smarter! It is truly an amazing thing to witness. Henry has learned some funny behaviors this month! He enjoys sticking his finger way up his nose! EW! He thinks its funny that I think its gross, so we play that game often. He loves dancing, and has recently completely moved into a big boy bed. The first and second night he didnt come out once, however he did fall out of bed. And then our handy Daddy built Henry a guardrail and he has stayed put resting with no falls. He did have one nap where he simply DID NOT want to go to sleep, however we did have kids over which I believe contributed to his reluctance, but other then that he has not gotten out of bed. Even in the morning or after naps when he wakes up he hangs out in bed until we poke our head in and tell him its time to get up. I am truly blessed. We have touched a little on the potty training but havent been insistent or very constant. Henry does understand his body and when he is going to go or has gone potty. Getting him there in time has been our challenge. However we will continue to work on it as he's comfortable and hope he is potty trained sooner rather then later! Henry is enjoying nursery more and more when he isnt causing a little trouble. He loves to sing and is learning the actions to the songs. He is a sweet boy though and I am so grateful to be his mommy. I love you sweet boy!

We drove out to gravelly point but it was SO windy, hence the tears on Henrys cheeks. He could hardly keep his eyes open. This would be so fun with a picnic on a warmer day. We will try again!

Big boy bed adventure

Well...Henry has, or is, I should say, transitioning into a big boy bed. We took one side off his crib and Henry has done very well. He doesnt get out much at all, and always seems to be ready for bed or nap when its that time.... Because Henry's big boy bed is a crib we were unable to find a guard rail for him. We thought we didnt need one but then.....

Poor guy. He is COMPLETELY asleep in this picture. SO! My sweet handy hubby built him a nice little guard rail and Henry has been able to stay put since!

Henry is growing steadily. He is such a happy boy who LOVES helping mommy and daddy. Just today we consolidated all of our DVDs into one disc holder. As daddy would put the DVD into the new holder Henry would go through away a movie case. He did this over and over and over and over again only stopping when he got to the Monsters Inc. case, which then he was fascinated with the pictures. He loves putting his coat and shoes away when we get home each day and helps clean up his books and toys at night. We are very very blessed.

And Nursery LEGAL! Haha... because Josh and I are already in nursery it doesnt make much of a difference, BUT we have a woman that asks us all the time if he is "nursery legal" because he is obviously in there with us. So now we can officially say that he able to be there with or without us! It has been a very busy month for Henry. He is talking A LOT! I think his current favorite word is "HOT?!" he hovers his hand over everything saying "Hot? Hot?" Its pretty cute. He still LOVES doing his puzzles and has become quite clever. He'll put one shape in the wrong place, look up at me and shake his head no... as if he is teasing me. He has cut 4 new teeth, but has become very picky. I thought I was being clever putting shredded carrot in his mac&cheese and cottage cheese but he usually figures it out a few bits in. He does like chicken pot pie and mashed potatoes, and such, but veggies are so hard. Monkey see monkey do? I'll try to eat more veggies too I guess.... : ) He is a very affectionate baby. He gives me hugs and kisses all day long! He still loves reading which I hope he always will. He is a healthy happy baby and we are grateful every day that he is apart of our family. Happy 18 months sweet boy! We love you forever.

Natural History Museum

Today we decided to head down to the National History Museum. Henry is really starting to enjoy identifying different animals and making their distinct noises. His favorite is still the dinosaur and I'm sure it will remain that way for some time. Below are a couple of pictures we took of Henry loving everything. Im getting later and later at doing these. I am so sorry! It has been a busy month for Henry! He has learned and LOVES his puzzles! He is feeding himself with a spoon!... but not eating his veggies. At least very well. He is imitating more then ever! He loves to watch sports on TV. He imitates the skiers and the swimmers which is hilarious and does "touchdown!" every time he sees football on TV. He is talking all the time! So many new words all the time. It has been such a fun month. We visited SLC for Christmas and so we were once again flying. Henry always does well though. He LOVES making animal noises and playing "wheres your nose, bellybutton, ear...etc" He needs another haircut...already! The life of a mommy of a little boy though huh :) Well, there is so much more to tell about Henry's growth so watch for more pictures!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
I should preface this whole post by telling my family how sorry I am that I did not carry my camera around MORE! I have shots of mostly just Christmas morning. We made so many fun memories though! We did girls night and made watches and crafts, and enjoyed Cafe Rio! We (I) have to get my feel for Cafe Rio at least once while in UT! We visited Temple Square this year. I am so grateful we got to do that. They had several different cultural Nativity Scenes. That was my favorite part. It was so neat!

Henry was great with family! He enjoyed all of his cousins!

I am so grateful he transitions well. Thank you to both of our families for such a wonderful vacation and Christmas! We miss you and love you so much! Thank you for the good times!

Oh yeah....few things I forgot in my last post...

I ordered this super cute stocking for Henry weeks before we left for UT. Shipping said that it should arrive at the latest by the 17th. PHEW! We left for UT before the mail came on the 18th. WELL, due to a "HUGE" (maybe an inch or two) storm it did not come :(. I was really sad about it. We did finally get it days after we returned. We will use it next year though! We had to put almost ALL of our Christmas decorations up high this year. Silly toddler...he wants to get into EVERYTHING!

Christmas in Virginia - 2010

Before we fly to Utah for Christmas Josh and I feel it is important to have our own holiday celebration. We do this for a couple of reasons, 1. to help us establish our own traditions 2. to be together with just the three of us and 3. it is toooooo difficult to take all of our Christmas to UT just to bring it back. So we enjoyed a really really nice turkey dinner and enjoyed opening gifts with each other. Enjoy our pictures!

Uh....Look how adorable! Paige was so much fun that night. She would crawl around on our rug without ever leaving it. She would get a little worried if she got too close to the edge. SO FUNNY!

Obviously our pictures are out of order. Poor Alex crashed AFTER they played for a while. It was sweet though to find that he had fallen asleep on the floor as I was laying Henry down.

16 MONTHS!

I has been a busy month for us and already Henry is one month older and one month wiser! Henry is as busy as ever! It seems he learns something new every day! Most recently he has taken a big interest in puzzles! He is talking lots still! Mostly around mom and dad. He is becoming much more independent. He LOVES to feed himself or at the very least see his food. For example, if I am holding a bowl above eye level he pulls my hands down until he can see his food. It has become rather cold however Henry doesnt seem to notice. He constantly wants to be outside. I asked him the other day if he wanted to play inside or outside and before I could even finish my question he yells "OUTSIDE!" Josh and I just laughed and laughed. That was his first "Outside"

Henry is still learning to communicate during those times that he gets a little frustrated. He is continuing to bite and hit. Although he does use those forms of communication when he's upset, he still is a very happy, mellow child. He is very patient with mommy as I am trying hard to learn what he is telling me. ANYWAY.. Enjoy this cute movie of Henry figuring his puzzle out for one of the first times.

He is a really good baby though. We love him so much and have been so grateful to have him these last 15 months!

Uh...How cute is sweet little Henry! I was having such a hard time getting to hold still for a picture so I just started taking them and got some really sweet moments on camera!

I think I could be a farmer in the fall. The beautiful colors and cool crisp air. The amazing red barn and animals! The apples and pumpkins and squash! We had so much fun at Homestead farm this week. We are going to have to take Daddy back sometime before it gets too cold. Or maybe to pick out a Christmas Tree! This was so neat!

Did you notice the cool ramp for the goats! That was pretty neat. I am amazed they dont fall off!

This was such a beautiful day! COLD! But beautiful. The flowers were amazing and all the pumpkins were so much fun!

They Grow Up so Fast

Well,

Henry has been watching Josh get up and go off to school for a year now and we think he is ready to go as well. The other day he grabbed Josh's backpack and insisted we put it on his back. Now he loves walking around the house dragging the backpack around with him. Maybe he knows if he is wearing it his daddy can't go to school.

Dear Grandma,

Mommy says that Daddy has never had a cavity in his life! Mommy says its because you made sure he brushed his teeth and ate healthy things like cereal thats good for you. We practice brushing my teeth every morning with this special toothpaste that Mommy got for me that is just for toddlers. Mommy says we have to be good teeth brushers so that I can have really healthy teeth like Daddy!

14 Months - (and 1 day)

I told myself at least 12 times yesterday to write! The life of a mother sometimes eh? Henry is now 14 months! I can't believe he is so old! It amazes me how much more he seems to comprehend each day. We just moved and didnt have his high chair over at our new apt for several days, so he would sit on the floor with me for his meals, and now he much prefers sitting on the floor as opposed to his chair. Its funny to watch him run out of the kitchen and sit in the living room on the floor waiting to be fed. Here are a few other things he has learned or loves:

-High Fives!

-Blinking

-Barking

-Squirrels

-Stairs - He often tries to just run off of them, as if there is a bridge or slide!

-Football and Soccer of course

-His blue blanket. He is SOO attached!

We love him so much! I am still amazed every day by him and love watching his progress!

Ok, so we were trying to get Henry to bark like a dog (which he does everytime he sees a dog), but he decided that he didn't want to bark, instead, he wanted to show everyone how he winks...

Well, each month that goes by amazes me. Henry is learning something new every day. It is exhausting to keep up! We have had a lot of really great experiences this last month including hanging out so much with Jake and Kaley, visiting Shenandoah, enjoying having Uncle Ryan in town, and lots and lots of swimming. Henry has been a trooper. He enjoys the pool, but is just worn out a little sooner then Jake and Kaley are. Henry loves to walk around with his blanket over his head..... Enjoy the video. It makes me laugh every time he does this!

We think Henry will be a ghost for Halloween this year!!

Summer fun

Well, Our summer fun with Jake and Kaley has come to an end. The kids start school on Tuesday and we decided to pack in as much as we could today. We started early and head for the Smithsonian museums. The kids really wanted to see the Air and Space Museum, but we started at the American History Museum where we saw the First Lady's dresses. Michelle Obama's white gown was there this time. I dont remember seeing it before. That was pretty neat. We saw Kermit, and Dorothy's slippers. Our favorite thing was the Spark Lab downstairs. Henry, Jake and Kaley played there almost an hour! They got to build things and do experiments! They had so much fun. After the morning there we headed home and went swimming for the last time at my pool. OH! We also went to the Zoo this week. That was a lot of fun also. HOT, but so much fun. The Ape house was our favorite. They were all over the place. Swinging on ropes and having so much fun! ENJOY the pictures! Sorry about the FUZZY!

I remembered a funny story in the car today that I wanted to share. It might be one of those.."ya had to be there" moments, nonetheless, I laugh every time I think of it. We were visiting Front Royal and Shenandoah a couple of weeks ago and decided it was time to head home. So we get all buckled in and pull out of our parking space and hear two warning honks. It sounded close. Josh and I were both startled and turned to look to see who we cut off. Well...no one was there and thats when we realized Henry was playing with his new little race car that Grandma Snow had given him for his birthday. It goes BEEP BEEP!! I laughed pretty hard. Henry got us!

Henry fell while we were at the swimming pool. He pulled outta my arms and landed face first on the concrete. But, in all the turmoil, he still has the incredibly adorable smile! What a tough boy!

Playing Catch Up

We have had a lot of fun the last couple weeks! Josh's brother, Ryan, has been in town and we were lucky enough to be able to see him while he was here on business. We visited him his first night here at the National Harbor where he was staying and saw the incredible....statue, I guess you would call it, The Awakening. We then were able to take a tour up to the very top of the Washington Memorial at dusk. What a need experience!

Henry was chasing birds the whole time we were waiting for our ride to the top. He LOVES animals!

One year measurements

Hi everyone! Well, not quite 2 weeks past Henry's birthday and we have his 12 month measurements. Maybe no one really cares how big around his head is, but for documentations sake!

WT: 21LBS 9OZ

30th Percentile

We thought he was a lot bigger, but apparently he is a little on the smaller side...

HT: 29 1/2 inches

40th Percentile

HC: 18 1/2

70th Percentile! BIG Head! Hopefully that means big, smart boy!

Shenandoah National Park - August 6, 2010

We had the opportunity to visit Shenandoah this week. It is a little over an our west of where we live. We really enjoyed out time there. We spent the morning in the park. The park is stretched over 100 miles. We drove through the first 35 miles. It is so incredible how much green exists here! I expected more mountainous rocky climbs, but it is all forest! It was so beautiful. We hiked to a bird watch and were able to spot some animals along the way. Lots of butterflies, and deer! After we felt Henry had enough hiking we left the park and wandered Front Royal Downtown. Its just a little town with lots and lots of antique shops. It was a lot of fun and so relaxing. It was great to spend the day together as family and I would love to go back someday and spend more time in the park.
