Running with Dad

I know I posted this on my other blog as well, but really it was meant for Henry's blog. He and Josh participated in the 'Law Run' this year, and they had a lot of fun doing it! It was a 5K around the U of U, and it rained on them the whole time, poor boys. Anyway, it would be fun to make this a tradition, only next year Henry will be in limbo I am sure...too big for the stroller and too small to run. Wish they would let him ride his bike! I was so proud to watch them cross the finish line!

SOCCER!

My not so little guy is playing soccer now! We spend our Saturday mornings now as a soccer family. While it isn't quite as glamorous as you'd think...i know i know :).... AND Henry actually only seems interested in the game for the first half and the second half he spends racing Finnley back and forth across the field, he is slowly becoming more and more into the game, and following the ball. It's adorable to watch him play, and hopefully he's having so much fun!

GO NUMBER 6!

Yes, he is one of the smallest on his team....

Happy Valentines Day! - Belated

We had a fun valentines day this year. We started the morning off by making some yummy treats and valentines and spent the afternoon delivering them to family!
ENJOY

Yummy yummy Valentines day Bark with red sprinkles and crushed red M&M's
We made this Valentine for Grandma and Grandpa Pugmire
We filled up this cute jar with gummi worms for dad and delivered it with lunch to his work
We took Aunt Jessica, and Grandma and Grandpa treats!
Another Valentine we did. This was a lot of fun because we put it in a magnet frame and it's on Grandma Snow's fridge!

Children's Discovery Museum

Today the Children's Museum was doing free admissions if you brought in gently used blankets or coats. Well, we couldnt pass up the opportunity to check out this cool museum and I am SO glad we did! Our friends Heath and Rory joined us. This place was amazing. I would seriously consider getting passes if we didnt have our pass of all passes coming.

You're Acting Like A.....!

I have wanted to write this post for a week or so now and thought I better write it down NOW before I forget the valuable lesson I learned last week as I was losing my patience with my sweet Henry. I can truly give my pregnancy credit for my lack of patience or at least it being very thin. (I hope anyway...I'd like to think otherwise I am a fairly patient mother) Well, I waited too long now to remember exactly what it was that was wearing me so thin that day... It could simply have been Henry's dawdling. He seems to like to dawdle. A LOT. (Remember, this is just one side of the story, if you asked him, which knowing my sweet 3 year old has forgiven and forgotten... he would simply tell you he likes to take his time, or some other reason, which I am sure is very good for his ...'dawdling') It could have been that my house was a mess, or that I was running errands I very much did not want to run... anyway, whatever the reason, I finally had had enough! I very firmly, okay, I yelled at Henry..."You're acting like a 3 year old!" Wow. Uh.... Oh sweet Henry, I thought to myself. What are my realistic expectations for you? I actually often think back about what my expectations were for Henry when he was 6 months...12 months...etc. But rarely do I consciously think about my expectations for him now as a 3 year old, and I realized that day that I probably expect more from him than his 3 years simply can give. I am not by any means more patient, but I do try daily. I try to remember he needs stimulation, play, and love from me. He needs me to be patient as he sorts through the shoe bucket to find his shoes and put them on. He needs me to be patient as he gets all his cars parked each in their own designated parking spot before he can get his hat and coat on, and needs me to be patient and loving as finishes lunch while distracted by a helicopter by his plate. I love this kiddo more then I ever imagined I could. I would want him to know that when he reads this in years to come, and when he remembers all my impatient moments, He will know that I tried, and am trying every day to encourage, love, and be patient with him and he grows and learns about the world around him.

Keeping busy during snowy weather...

I have been trying hard to 2 things. 1. be a slightly better mom - you know, get creative with Henry.... rather then spend most of our snowed in days in front of the disney channel that Grandma Snow so graciously provides, and while I do think there is a lot of really adorable shows made for my sweet 3 year old, we really can only stand so much ya know.... and 2. I dont remember now what 2 was.... maybe I combined 1 & 2... anyway, here are some of the things we have done the last week or so....

Painting Snow- Henry LOVED this. We did it twice, and he spent a little over an hour in the tub painting the snow. It would be so much more fun outside, but we just didnt have it in us.... we brought snow in, and painted with colored water in a variety of water bottles.
We made playdough today! Sparkly Green and blue. I will never pay for playdough. Henry LOVED it.

On Sunday we made "fake" snow and put it in a 9x13 pan. Henry got his little tractors out and played in it for hours and hours during the week last week. He LOVED it. The recipe was just baking soda and white hair conditioner. Whodda thunk?

Playing MORE catchup

Henry and I spent an afternoon making cupcakes one day. He had SO much fun! We made chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter frosting (because you know I love anything peanut butter...) And yes, Henry has been asking for spiky hair quite a bit lately.
Can you tell which ones Henry decorated and which ones mommy decorated?

We rode the train into SLC early in December to see the lights at Temple Square. As always they were beautiful and there is always something so peaceful about being on Temple grounds.

Candy Windows are BACK! I remember these fondly as a child. They were in the ZCMI windows each year when I was little. I remember one year they did scenes from the Nutcracker all made out of candy. They were amazing. Well, they haven't been done in years, and to my surprise.... They were back this year! They were all ornaments and done very well. Excuse my poor quality pictures. It was VERY crowded that night.....
